We sent off the application for our Home Study today. For those of you who aren’t familiar with a Home Study (don’t feel bad, I didn’t know about them until recently), it’s a mandatory – and expensive – step in the adoption process. Basically, a Home Study is a report written by a state approved Social Worker who has met the prospective parents several times, visited the prospective parents home and investigated their medical, criminal, health, family and home background. The purpose of this detailed report is to help the court determine whether the prospective parents are qualified to adopt a child or not.
Even though we may not get to meet with a Social Worker for a few weeks and the report can take up to six weeks to complete, this is a huge milestone for us.
I hope we are adoption material. 🙂
Oh goodness, Erin, thanks for the positive and uplifting perspective that you so often offer to me, especially now.
So looking forward to a new life and a new focus in life.
You and Dan will pass, I just know it!
